Although we have already analyzed the different viable alternatives for off-season, today it is our turn to talk about the most primitive of all. Rockboarding, stoneskiing or what is like sliding down the slope on the stones, a modality reserved for wild boars and snowboarders and freeskiers who love the most extreme.



The reason why I write this post is because browsing the internet, I don't really know why, I ended up linking videos on YouTube until I got to this one that I show you below. As far as I have been able to learn, this is an event that was organized in the Swiss commune of Kandersteg for at least three years. It consisted of a slalom and a jumping competition and judging by the images, the participants threw themselves into the mud without thinking twice.





Browsing the internet is not that you can find too much information or graphic material about rockboarding, so it is nothing more than a freak anecdote. If there is more than stoneskiing, which is even known to be a slalom and speed competition. The legendary Swiss skier Sylvain Saudan confessed a few years ago that to improve his technique he trained by sliding on stones down the slope, and for proof of this here is the video that proves it.

Some will surely say that they have already practiced rockboarding or stoneskiing in their own resorts of so many bald spots that are found on the slopes... In view of what I have seen, I prefer bald spots to end up practicing all these "modalities" out of obligation.
